Elvis Presley, who was born on the 8th of January, 1935, at Tupelo in Mississippi, USA, was not forgotten by his fans in Fethiye. He was commemorated with a programme which was attended also by expatriates living in the town.

The programme included songs of Presley and clips of the famous singer appeared on the screen. Paul Lebbink, the owner of the Buffalo restaurant, got on the stage, singing Presley songs to which he also danced to.

Lebbink, who wore a stage custom, stated that they intended to bring the Presley fans in Fethiye together. Lebrink added that Elvis Presley was a symbol of pop culture, saying, “Elvis Presley was born on the 8th of January 75 years ago. As citizens of Fethiye we have never forgotten him. We wanted to commemorate him and his music during the week in which he was born.”
