SCOTTISH BURNS NIGHT SUPPER TO TAKE PLACE IN ÇALIŞ
Category: Events CalendarAdd Time: Oca 4th, 2010Author: admin
Burns Night immortalises Scotland’s most famous poet Robbie Burns and is celebrated by Scotsman all over the world on or around January 25. Guests will be piped into the hotel by local bagpipe player Charlie Leighton, where they will receive a welcome drink before sitting down to enjoy a delicious meal of lentil soup, Haggis, “Neeps and Tatties” and a choice of cheesecake, tiramisu or apple pie with cream or ice-cream. There will also be savoury mince or a vegetarian casserole for those who do not wish to sample the delights of haggis. The formal ceremony of piping in the haggis and the dramatic “address to the haggis” will be followed by short toasts before guests are invited to take the floor to learn traditional Scottish country dancing led by dance teachers Sine and Colin Rous. This is the third Burns Night Supper organised by the Carnival Committee and it has been a sell out every year. The committee intend this to be a memorable, fun evening and although all reverence will be paid to the traditional ceremony, toasts will be kept short to provide more time for dancing. Tickets cost 27 TL, the same price as last year, and numbers are strictly limited to 80. Please ring 0536 3739520 or 0535 8554919 to book early and avoid disappointment. 5 TL of the ticket price will go towards the Carnival charity, helping disadvantaged children on the local area. |
