Wee Gizmo, a Melges 24 racing yacht, owned by Fethiye businessman Tolga Sevinç and Edinburgh born Fethiye expat Jock Blair, won IRC Class 3 at the recent Marmaris International Race Week.
Wee Gizmo may have been the smallest boat in the fleet of 14, but nevertheless overcame the much larger boats to win four out of five races.
The crew of four included Geoff Bowerman, Jock's experienced yacht-racing friend, also from Edinburgh, and Yachting Instructor, Murat Yılmas who runs the Fethiye-based Deniz Academy, where he teaches sailing to beginners.
Marmaris International Race Week is a competition that attracts many boats and sailors from all over the world. The boats are divided into classes, depending on the type of boat and the crew’s experience. Wee Gizmo and her crew won one of these very competitive classes.
Tolga and Jock have raced together in Turkey for eight years and are "delighted to have achieved first place at the popular Marmaris event".
They will also be racing in the Göcek Autumn Regatta. We wish them good winds and further success.
