The yearly assembly of the Association for Solidarity and Beautification of Çalış has been held. A change of duty took place where the 12-year-old chairman of the association, Hasan Şimşek, turned his position over to Mete Ay.

Hasan Şimşek spoke as follows: “I have been working actively in this association for 25 years. I have been the chairman for the last 12 years. I have grown a bit weary now. It is time to turn over the duties to younger friends. We want them to perform correctly and for better, as we have done. We shall always work hand in hand. When they come to us with their problems, we shall do our best to be of help to them.”

Mete Ay, the new chairman, said: “We thought we should work as a larger group at the Çalış Association which we owe to the self-sacrificing efforts of our elder brother Hasan Bey as believe that he should no long bear the burden on his own. Needless to say, this is not a matter of me against you. We shall continue our efforts altogether. We have to appreciate the prominence of Çalış. Çalış has a capacity of 5 thousand beds.  We must evaluate it properly. We shall start our work along the coast. We shall remove the stones on the beach. We have to sort through the coast line. Everyone should take part in the work. The Çalış Carnival is most significant for us.”
