It is ascertained that the second Lycia Adventure Contest, organized by the Lycia Alpinism and Natural Sports Club of Fethiye, will be an international event. The contest will take place between the dates of the 4th and 9th of May. 2010, in and around Fethiye and work is under way for the participation of about 40 teams from various countries.

The City representative of Turkish Federation of Alpinism, Bora Borçin, organized a briefing at the Governorship of Mugla to provide information about the aims and targets of the Second Lycia Adventure Contest (LC 2010 – Lycian Challenge). The meeting was attended by Recep Yülsel and Ahmet Ali Barış, Assistants to the Governor; City Director of Youth and Sports
Burhaneddin Hacıcaferoğlu,. City Representative of the Federation of Alpinism, Borçin, and administrations of Lycia Alpinism and Natural Sports Special Club. speaking at the meeting, the City Representative of the Federation of Alpinism, Borçin, stated that the contest would be organized totally in line with international standards. Teams of four, with at least one woman member, will participate in LC 2010, which will be a difficult contest lasting continuously for four days, pointed out Borçin, adding, ”No vehicles with motor will be used in the challenge which will be carried out with different sports disciplines based on the strength of muscles. On the 550-km. track i.n Fethiye, teams will be riding on mountain bicycles, do trekking, racing on sands,. orienteering, canoeing at sea, swimming, canoeing on the river, canyoning, caving, getting down and crossing with ropes, putting their physical and mental durability to test.”

On the other hand, Emre Acar, the Captain of Special Club said, “LC 2010 will have wide repercussions and will be an organization which will best promote the natural wealth of our country. We anticipate the participation of close to 40 teams We shall start registering next week. Many teams voiced their eagerness to participate In this contest GPS follow-up will be used for the first time. The GPS spot apparatus was obtained under the sponsorship of the Globalstar Eurasia through which we shall follow the location of each team on line every 10 minutes.. As much as the beauty and difficulty of the laps, safety is most important for us. In the event of any nugatory event, teams will be able to indicate their location by automatic signals. Throughout the contest the Search and Rescue Team of TDF TÜDAK will be on hand to intervene.

Within the framework of LC 2010, while the contestant sweat out in nature, there will be free of charge films on nature and adventure, orienteering games, small-scale adventure contests and concerts at the challenge centre for the spectators. It is anticipated that the challenge will play a significant role in the promotion of alternative tourism in the city and towns of Mugla.
