PADOK – PREMIUM LUXURY FOR BOTH PEOPLE AND HORSES
Category: Local NewsAdd Time: Ağu 15th, 2010Author: adminThe new PADOK hotel and riding centre in the village of Ataköy, is situated just a few kilometres off the main road near the Marmaris turn-off on the Muğla road. Formally opened a few months ago it is one of the most well appointed places to stay on the southwest coast of Turkey – and that’s just for the horses. It has a hotel for humans too, which is also top of the range.
This year saw this project realised by the Çilingir family, who have combined their love of horses, equine sport and business in tourism to create a centre for anyone who loves horse riding and comfort. Their 30 horses and ponies live in the lap of luxury, with all the technology and facilities imaginable. There is a veterinary office on site as well as 48 loose boxes, tack rooms, horse training and exercise units. The riding centre has two spacious ménage, which meet international standards; one covered, the other open. The indoor facility has a comfortable viewing terrace. The horses are stabled in large loose boxes and are regularly exercised. They are all of the highest calibre, show jumping, dressage and eventers. The family’s interest in equestrian sports stems from the father, Gökhan who was taught to ride as a youngster and passed his love to his children, who took his passion to a higher level and now regularly compete internationally in show jumping competitions. It is clearly evident that young Gökhun who is 19 and the son of the family, takes his horses very seriously indeed and shows great discipline in his horsemanship; getting up very early every morning to muck-out the stables and exercise the horses. When not at PADOK he is studying American Culture at Bilkent University in Ankara, the family’s home. “I have to have a good job at the end of my studies so I can afford to look after the horses,” he says.
If a family take a holiday at PADOK there is also plenty to do for those not so keen on the horsey life. The hotel organises trips to the various beautiful bays in the region, boat tours and trips to surrounding towns and historical sites. They also have some bicycles for the guests to take a spin on, should they choose. After all that fun and exercise guests can take a cooling swim in the half-size Olympic pool. There is also an area for sunbathing and relaxing. Horse riding makes people hungry and PADOK has an open, well-furnished restaurant will a comprehensive menu. There is also a bar in the lobby area, overlooking the indoor ménage. A country-style breakfast is served every morning. The overall impression a guest is left with is that whether you are a horse or a person, this is the place to stay. For more information visit www.padok.co.tr or telephone 02522474545 |
