The tourism operators were very pleased with the remarks of Ertuğrul Günay, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, who said, “If the hotels do not lay off their personnel during the winter, we shall pay for their social insurance premiums.” Tourism operators point out that various supportive measures are given to overcome the global crises all over the world and that the comments about the insurance premiums would open up the way for tourism throughout 12 months, as well as preventing the unemployment to a significant extent.

The proposal of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ertuğrul Günay, for the payment of insurance premiums of employees who are not laid off, while their wages would be met by the accommodating organizations, was found favourable by tourism operators. The hoteliers in Fethiye considered the suggested support as a very sound decision. Yavuz Torunoğulları, the ex-president of the Union of Fethiye Hoteliers, said that they had requested this and the government had displayed a favourable approach on this matter. Torunoğulları explained that this would be contributory to both hotel operators and their employees and would facilitate rendering tourism services throughout 12 months.
