For the first time Google carried a special day of Turkey on its logo in connection with the Childrens Festivities on the 23rd of April. Google Turkey stated that instead of the logo on the main page of Google Turkey, a specially designed logo was used on the 23rd of April, celebrating the National Sovereignty Day of the Turkish children.
These specially designed logos called Doodles are being used since 1999 by the founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The first Doodle was used on the main page of Google by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in September, 1999, as they left for a conference entitled Burning Man in Nevada. The purpose of the Doodle in the form of a burning matchstick man was to indicate that in case of a problem in the site, they would be away.
Doodles are intended to draw attention the significant days and holiday times for the countries of the world, as well as cultural events and outstanding people in history on this unique platform. Furthermore, internet users may click on these specially designed logos to get more detailed information about that day, person or subject.
Yonca Brunini, the Marketing Manager of the EMEA Region of the Google, said, The reason for our using this Doodle on google.com.tr is the unbelievable and continues interest by the Turkish internet users in our special Google-Doodle logos. The logo for the 23rd of April is an indication of Googles appreciation and devotion to the Turkish market and I hope all our users will like it.
