On Sunday 27th  April 2008 the Bowls club held their first AGM
The meeting highlighted a very successful first year for the club but undoubtedly the most memorable part of the year was is March which saw the arrival of Sandown Bowls club from the Isle of Wight. They have the accolade of being the first ever bowls club to visit and play in Turkey.
Both the visiting and home teams enjoyed a weeks bowling and social events, with the home team ending up the eventual winners.
The visiting team expressed their thanks and appreciation to the staff and management of the Oykun Hotel for the excellent hospitality shown to them even though it was an out of season visit. The following is a transcript taken from a fax which was sent to the Oykun Hotel from the captain of Sandown club on their return to the Isle of Wight.
“Just a very big thank you to you all for helping to make our stay great. Your hospitality was fantastic and the Turkish people were wonderful. We enjoyed everything you did for us. Thank you all again from all of our party and we will be back sometime I promise.”
Presentation of trophy’s were also made at the meeting for the winners of the winter leagues,
Premier league winner Phil Styles

The most improved player trophy went to Dave Smith. A special presentation was made to Jim Bridge, Gwen Edney, Ali Smith and Rita Hicks for a perfect 8 (equivalent to 147 in snooker) in their fours match against Sandown club. The event was overshadowed throgh by the standing down of the first committee members Rose and Jim Bridge and Jo and Mark Pietsch. Appreciation eas shown from all attending members for the excellent work they have done in gretting the club up and running and making the first year such a great success.
